I know what it feels like to keep getting pulled back.
01Running from home
I've always been sensitive. Intuitive. The girl who knew things before she knew how she knew them.
When I left for college, I just wanted to be free. Free of the family drama, and free of the patterns I grew up inside. But the harder I tried to spread my wings, the more I felt my family resisting my flight.
I made relationship choices I'm not proud of. One of them nearly cost me my life. I rebounded into a marriage with a man who looked like my way out, and when his job took him out of state, I left everything behind, including the teaching career I loved.
The distance only made the pull stronger. Four years later the marriage ended, and I was right back in my family home, the very place I had spent my whole life trying to leave. That's where my dark night of the soul began.
022011, the year it cracked open
That year, an angel card reader looked at me and said, “Shelby, your energy is all over the place. Go get a job folding jeans and listen to music.” She didn't even charge me. She had no idea how to guide me.
What I didn't know yet was that my spiritual awakening had begun. Soon after, I went on an 11-day silent meditation retreat less than ten minutes from my parents' house. For ten days, there was no talking and no eye contact.
A few months later, a psychic at a wellness expo told me I was angry with my mother and needed to do forgiveness work. So I did. I wrote the 70 × 7 forgiveness practice every night for 48 days. That journey became my memoir, Soul Freedom, and it's the same process I teach in The Art of Process.
Then, during a lucid dream, my energy fully activated. It was so strong that no one around me could explain what was happening to me.
03The mentor who changed everything
About a year later, my mentor came into my life in a way I never could have planned. Someone I knew was serving time in jail, and the pastor there told me about a spiritual teacher here in Dallas. He made me promise I would call her. I kept that promise, and the rest is history.
For the first time, someone could explain what I was going through and show me how to work with my energy instead of being swept away by everyone else's. Her courses are also where I met my husband, Joe. He is her longest-running student and has been learning from her since he was a teenager.
I stopped running and started healing. I faced the generational patterns that kept looping me back into the same dynamic.
04Why I guide women
About a year after I found my mentor, I knew this was my work. I was figuring out the process of awakening and how it was affecting me, and I could see how desperately women need to learn to run their energy instead of letting it run them. In 2013, I began guiding women one-on-one.
It took me years to find my way home to myself, mostly because I didn't have a map. That's why I share this path in real time, step by step, so you don't have to walk it without a guide.
Everything I teach comes from walking it, not from theory. Following the process in order makes it clearer, steadier and easier on you.
“Because of you my life is completely changed today. I have direction, confidence and dreams that I'm actually living.”
